Bali Welcomes PATA Travel Mart 2007 |

Much has been written about challenges faced by Indonesian tourism Indonesia in the past, present and future. Bali, Indonesia, once again is proud to host a world-class travel trade event, PATA Travel Mart 2007 (PTM07), to be held on 25 " 28 September 2007 at Bali International Convention Centre (BICC), Nusa Dua.
Hosting for event the third time now, Bali is ready to welcome more than 1,000 participants, members, including tourism government officials, travel industry, PATA members and international media, attending the regions best travel contracting and networking show.
Mr. Jero Wacik, Minister of Culture & Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, host of PTM07 said: PATA Travel Mart is the leading, global trade event to remind the travel trade that Bali, Indonesia is one of the worlds great destinations. The event will bring top travel industry members from around the world to see first hand the enduring charms of our tropical island and the significant new investment made over the past few years. We are very excited and honored to be entrusted by the Association to once again host PATA Travel Mart. During these ensuing years, the Indonesian tourism industry have made significant new investment that has made the country even more attractive destination. We look forward to welcoming PTM07 participants to enjoy a memorable and enriching experience in Indonesia the Ultimate in Diversity. Mr. Wacik continues. The Indonesian tourism community sees this is a great opportunity to boost visitor arrivals to Bali and Indonesia in general. The event offers excellent opportunity to showcase Indonesia as a compelling, must-visit destination. Furthermore, the event is instrumental to the ongoing recovery of the tourism industry in Bali and throughout the Indonesian archipelago, after experiencing a number of serious challenges due to global problems over the past five years. With two months to go, the Mart at PTM07 has already seen some 427 buyers from 50 countries and 765 sellers from 38 countries, added with 36 journalists from various international publications from 14 countries confirmed participations. The trade-only event will be held at BICC, Nusa Dua, Bali. Profile of sellers include Independent Hotels/Resorts, Hotel Chain, DMC/Inbound Tour Operator, National Tourism Organization (NTO), Cruise Operator, Dive Operator, Airlines, Airports, Travel Media/Technology, Car Rental, Tourism Attraction, Association, Serviced Apartment, Aircraft Manufacturers. The Mart at BICC has span over 10,000 square meters and so far, all booths have already been booked. It also features significant number from Indonesia tourism industry joining the Mart, which includes special interest tours and community-based tourism. Commenting on the participation for this years PATA Travel Mart, Mr. Thamrin B. Bachri, the Director General for Marketing of the Ministry of Culture & Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia said: We are pleased to see such strong interest this year from sellers and buyers. For sellers, it goes to show how important the PATA Travel Mart is as a platform to showcase the diversity of Asia Pacifics tourism products offering to the international audience. Mr. Bachri further added, For the buyers, we are seeing more buyers from emerging source markets including the participation of MICE buyers from incentive houses, meeting planners and corporate end-users from major Asian cities at PTM07 to further developing the MICE potential, an indication of the regions collective attractiveness as a destination to not only for leisure but also business. More importantly, Indonesia is a very appealing destination to global market. We are seeing strong interest at PTM07 not just from the regional markets, but also long-haul market such as Netherlands, Germany, UK and USA. The PATAs headquarters secretariat is still receiving enquiries from trade members and is expecting registration to climb further, Mr. Bachri concluded. PTM07 is hosted by The Ministry of Culture and Tourism and supported by the Bali Government Tourism Office, Garuda Indonesia as official airline, and private sector leadership providing an outstanding level of support at PTM07, including the authorities who have also been extremely proactive in stepping up security and safety measures both for delegates during PTM07 and at the subsequent Board of Directors meeting. Indonesian tourism is a proud member of PATA, having hosted numerous PATA events in the past. Bali hosted PTM in 1985 and 1989 along with the 53rd PATA Annual Conference in 2003; beforehand, Jakarta also hosted PATA Annual Conference in 1963 and 1974.
