Indonesia is unrivalled exotic scenery culture and nature, breathtaking mountains and thousands of kilometers of pristine beaches and tropical forests, Indonesia remains one of Asia’s premiere tourist hot-spots. However, like many locations that have borne the brunt of fast-paced development of tourism and industrial infrastructure, especially in Java and Bali are increasingly placing the island’s environment and culture under pressure. Indonesia therefore has great potential for development of ecotourism.
In fact, Indonesia is richest biodiversity in the world, covers 1.3% of the earth’s surface, yet harbours 10% of all flowering plants, 12% of the world’s mammals, 16% of the world’s reptiles and amphibians, 17% of all birds, and more than a quarter of known marine and freshwater fish species. The many islands of the archipelago support a wide range and variety of habitats, from lowland rainforests, mangroves, savannah grassland, swamp forests and limestone hills, to mountain forest, alpine meadows and snowcapped mountains near the equator. Indonesia has developed through an integrated system, interdisciplinary, participatory approach, using economical and technical criteria, ergonomic, socio-cultural sensitivity, energy saving, nature conservation and minimizing the environmental impact at 1999. Based on that fact, the opportunity to develop ecotourism as a strategy to build Sustainable Tourism is huge. Ecotourism is a comprehensive tool to conserve biodiversity and to involve local communities and organization in a participatory way to derive maximum benefits in a sustainable way. ecotourism, has a potential to improve the quality of the environment, cultural values, local community prosperity and quality of human relation in general. Central Java have Karimun Jawa, Kangean islands, Samin country, Dieng plateau and Borobudur temple, also as International heritage site. Ecotourism is one concept for make the eath still in green, beauty and peace. Java, the amazing magical island, have all potential, city tourism, adventure, art, museum, islands and sea tour. Ecotourism concept aims to increase community participation in maintaining the natural environment. Indonesian has a lot of ecotourism environment indeed. Hard to believe, almost all areas of the archipelago have excellent ecotourism potential. For example Indonesian’s ecotourism that has well develop are Candirejo in Central Java, Gunung Leuser National Park in Sumatra, Jatiluwih in Bali, Ujung Kulon, Wakatobi, Halimun Park-Mount Salak, West Java, to Taman Mekarsari in Puncak, West Java. |
