Powerful Earthquake Rocked West Indonesia
ImageA powerful earthquake hit Indonesia on Wednesday, 12 September 2007, causing buildings to sway strongly in the capital, and authorities issued a tsunami warning for much of the Indian Ocean region. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 8.2 and hit at about 6:10 p.m. It was centered 9.7 miles underground in the southern Sumatra area, the USGS said.

A string of aftershocks hit Sumatra on Wednesday evening, several hours after a powerful earthquake rocked Bengkulu province at 6:10 p.m. Metro TV reported that the aftershocks occurred at 8:17 p.m., 9:04 p.m., 9:25 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. in several locations in Sumatra.

The Gilis
No Motor, No Car, No Polution. This is quite and peace place.

ImageThe Gilis, as they are known collectively, are located a few kilometres off the west coast of Lombok just north of Senggigi beach. The three Gili Islands, Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Terawangan, are one of Lombok's most popular tourist destinations. These island are considered special because of the diversity and abundance of marine life that finds its home in the extensive coral waters that surround each of them. It is these coral reefs that are home to the blue coral, a coral said to grow in only two places in the world, the Carribbean and here, off the coast of Lombok. The islands are very relaxed and laid-back, with countless little beachside cafes serving up delicious food, and fresh fish grills. There are no cars or motorbikes on this islands. People can walk around, or pick up the local transport (cidomo) horse cart, rent bicycle or ride a horse here.
 
People travel to the Gilis to enjoy the relaxation, beaches, snorkeling and diving. There are now many up-market restaurants, bars and accommodation on the islands. Note that there are no ATMs on the islands, so bring plenty of cash with you.

Lebaran Topat

This tradition not only in Lombok, in other place of Indonesia, Java, Betawi, Bugis and others, have some tradition with different name. Lebaran Topat usually held at 7th Syawal in Arabic Calendar or After Idul Fitri.

Lebaran Topat  Lebaran Topat is a cultural event relived to the Moslem religion in Lombok. It is held in the seventh day after Idul Fitri – the day of celebration at end of fasting month for Moslems. Lebaran Topat is the tradition to celebrate Lebaran and recreation by bringing topat, traditional food in Lombok, that is small packages of cooked rice wrapped in coconut leaves, with variety of side dishes including vegetables. Lebaran topat is held particularly in the West Lombok, started to pray for prosperity and happiness in the mosque, musholla, family grave yard and then followed by recreation a long coast line.

Nisa Kapa

Nisa Kapa Island is popular as island that has many snakes live in there, this island in Bima area. That name in Bima language mean pulau kapal (boat Island). No one know how the history of this name. Many people just said if any boat washed ashore at long time ago.
